The founding residents are the ten men who define PRGV before it opens. They are not customers of a finished product but partners in building the institution — and they carry both the privileges and the responsibilities that come with that role.
Shaping the Institution
Founding residents help set the culture, rhythm and rules that later residents will inherit. From the cadence of the shared table to house conventions and the character of the estate, the founding cohort's judgement shapes the standard PRGV will hold for years.
This influence extends to practical matters under evaluation, including the choice of location and the finishing of the estate. The founder treats the first ten as collaborators in the enterprise rather than as a market to be sold to.
Privileges of the Founding Cohort
Founding residents secure their place at the origin of the community, before any waiting list forms. They enjoy first standing within the house, a direct line to the organiser, and the distinction of being the group that established the estate's identity.
Because PRGV never exceeds ten residents, membership is inherently scarce. Founding status is the rarest tier of an already limited institution — a position that cannot be replicated once the estate is established.
Responsibilities
With the privileges comes responsibility. Founding residents are expected to uphold the doctrine of discretion, to contribute to house culture in good faith, and to help welcome and integrate the residents who follow.
The founding cohort sets the tone. Their conduct becomes the reference point for what PRGV expects of everyone, which is why the selection committee applies particular care to these first ten places.
How to Join the First Ten
Founding places are filled through the same confidential evaluation as all residency, but ahead of the general waiting list. Candidates begin by submitting a request for evaluation, after which the organiser makes direct, discreet contact.
Because these places define the institution, the process is deliberate and the number is strictly limited. Serious candidates are encouraged to begin the conversation early in the pre-launch phase.
